  1. The Green New Deal talks about decarbonizing the energy and transportation systems but it needs to do more than that to address climate change. The Great Pivot talks about creating millions of new green jobs decarbonizing our energy and transportation system, building a circular economy, reducing food waste, and restoring forests, soils, waterways, and wildlife populations. What kinds of green jobs are missing from this list? Food, Community Gardens, food policy council oakland.

  1. To steer the Titanic away from the iceberg of climate change and mass species extinction, there is so much work that needs to happen to change the way we do things in our economy. While we wait for the 2020 election to happen and for Congress to act, should California have its own Green New Deal? If so, what should it look like? Food, Energy, and water.

  1. 37.5 million people aged 25-64 in the US are Not in the Labor Force. Each year 626,000 people are released from prison. If they can’t find a job they can’t reintegrate into society. 4.2 million people drive for a living and their jobs may be going away in the next decade. People need income to be able to live but they also want meaningful work so they want to get up in the morning and go to work. How do we bridge the gap between the work we need done and the people who want meaningful work? Power of Community- paying more for essential services

  1. A river of money is flowing toward the dinosaur industries that include fossil fuel companies, car companies, garbage haulers, and utilities, among others. When we pay monthly bills and when we put funding in our retirement accounts we contribute to this river of funding. Who are our allies in the financial sector who can help us divert a stream of funding and invest in regenerative projects which will in turn create green jobs?

  1. Our country holds up successful entrepreneurs as heroes but our society does little to support them. What more should we be doing to make it easier for aspiring entrepreneurs to build successful green businesses?

  1. What kinds of green jobs are easiest to create: private sector, non-profit sector, or government?

  1. Who are allies for green job creation?
